Recognise your challenges
With so many platforms to utilise for expanding your audience, sometimes it can be overwhelming to create content for all your audiences. Catriona explains that it’s vital to be consistent across all platforms to build trust and those important relationships. It can be a challenge defining what is relevant and what isn’t and recognising this is the first step in reaching your target audience.
Understand your why
Ask yourself why you want to be considered a person of influence in your industry. The biggest thing you need to realise is that promoting yourself isn’t actually about you, it’s about the people you want to influence. To really be seen as an expert you have to share something of value whether this is your IP, time or expertise.
Establish leadership online
There are many ways to build your online profile and communicating your businesses stories. Here are just a few ideas to get you started.
1. Create a personal website – If you are a thought leader in your field, why not tell the world what you have to offer?
2. Start a blog – Blogging is efficient and cost effective, allowing you to publish content you are in control of. If you don’t want to start your own blog site, consider guest blogging as an alternative.
3. Social Media – Whether it’s Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, or Instagram, building your brand via social media is another effective and cost efficient way to build trust across multiple platforms.
4. Media coverage – Sending out media releases, media pitches and writing articles to be published will enable your voice to be heard.
