Social media has been embraced by many people and many companies around the world. However there are also companies that actively avoid, or even fear, engaging with their target market via social media.
There can be many different reasons as to why a company will decide to avoid using social media to converse with their target market. Social Media News has provided several reasons why a company may not choose to go down the social media path.
1. People ‘might’ say negative things
There is a chance that negative comments have already been said, so why not be there to try and rectify the problem and turn a negative into a positive? Companies can utilise social media to actively listen to what people are saying about them and participate in this conversation. Today, consumers like brands that listen and talk to them rather than brands that talk at them and ignore them.
2. There is limited control
In actual fact companies have quite a lot of control on social media. Being present to react to any negative comments and discuss solutions is a great way to create positive outcomes. When companies are not involved in social media conversations, that is when they have limited control.
3. No time to use social media
There is nothing more frustrating than an abandoned company social media page so this fear can, in some cases, be justified. However, some forms of social media can take less time than others it just depends on what platforms the target market are engaging in.
Any online community takes time and commitment however, once a company begins engaging with their target market there are more chances that the outcomes will be positive rather than negative.
