Media Coverage – How to Attract Attention

Valerie Khoo, Founder and Director, Sydney Writers’ Centre, Journalist, Author and Entrepreneur will be speaking at the next Women’s Network lunch on how to get media coverage for your business.

This talk is ideal for small business entrepreneurs and anyone who wants to get their message in the media. You might want to build your profile or position yourself as an expert in the media. If so, you need to know how the media works and what they want to receive from you. Valerie can give you an insider’s perspective on what journalists look for – and how you can make the most of this.

Valerie will cover the golden rules of dealing with the media and what you must never do if you want to avoid negative publicity. Discover the secrets of what it takes to make positive headlines for yourself – and your business. If you are a small business entrepreneur, Valerie knows that you don’t always have big dollars to buy advertising but you can get significant media coverage if you know how to position yourself and tailor your message to suit the needs of the media.

After many years in the media – writing for publications ranging from The Sydney Morning Herald to CLEO -Valerie has become an expert on how the media works. She has worked at three major publishing houses, ACP Magazines, EMAP and Pacific Magazines, including three years in Singapore. She is published regularly in The Sydney Morning Herald, is the author of five books and writes for a range of corporate and consumer publications.
