Many businesses are now using Instagram as part of their PR strategy to share information with their customers and target audiences.
PR Daily has reported many big brands such as MTV, Starbucks, Tiffany & Co. and Nike are using Instagram, creating their own ‘iger’ communities with nearly half a million followers.
PR Daily has also provided some great tips on how your business can use Instagram for PR.
Promote your products: You could post a photo of your products or how to use your product in a new way. You could even post photos of how a product is made. Make sure the photo is interesting to encourage your followers to share it. Also ensure you post photos of things other than products and avoid being too promotional.
New employees: Announce the hiring of a new employee by sharing photos of them settling into the office. Remember that Instagram is a social platform for sharing creative and interesting images with followers, so don’t be too formal with your photos.
Events: Share information about an event you are planning by taking photos of the planning process. For example you could tell a story of how the event is being planned by taking photos of the invitations, the venue, the potential decorations or food. You can also use Instagram to post photos at the event or any other event you are attending.
Awards: If your business has just won an award why not share your success on Instagram. Take an interesting photo of where you have placed the award in your office or ask employees to pose with it.
Business culture: Use Instagram to share a behind the scenes look at your office. You can post pictures of employee’s birthdays, work meetings or the view from your window. This is a great way to promote the work culture of your office and provide a human face to your business.
Instagram is a social platform, so to gain followers you need to engage with other users. You can do this by sharing and liking other people’s photos. Share your business information with your followers and have fun promoting your business on a new platform.
